Pastors Jim and Deborah McGaffin are the founding pastors of Liberty Christian Center. In 1991, they leased a small chapel on the old Archbishop Ryan High School Campus at 60th and L Street, and the congregation was born. Now, more than 15 years later, Liberty Christian Center owns the 30-acre site and over 144,000 square feet of remodeled buildings.
There are currently five other ministries operating on the Liberty Christian Center campus. Our vision is to help strengthen the Kingdom of God in Omaha by being relevant to the city.
Pastors Jim and Deborah have placed a strong emphasis on contemporary worship, practical teachings from God’s Word and being highly effective with the youth of the city. Pastors Jim and Deborah’s story is one miracle after another. Their unique ministry and style is both down-to-earth and challenging.
Jerry and Stacy Woitaszewski have been the Children's Pastors at Liberty Christian Center since it began in 1992. Jerry has been ordained through Faith Christian Fellowship International since 1997. Stacy is currently a licensed minister through the same organization.
Jerry and Stacy began ministering to children soon after they made Jesus their personal Savior and Lord in 1985. Since they had two children, they felt that they should help out at church. It was in 1986 that they met Pastors Jim and Deborah McGaffin and began helping out in the Nursery and Toddler department in 1987.
About a few months after ministering to the kids, the Nurseryand Toddler leader told Jerry and Stacy that she believed God had something special to tell them, but they had to seek the Lord in prayer to find out. After putting it off for some time, they finally spent some time in prayer. It was in November of 1987 that God revealed to them in a vision that they were to spend their time and effort ministering to children.
Pastors Jerry and Stacy believe that if you put the time and effort into the children when they are young, you won't have many problems that some parents have with older children. As parents of six of their own children, they know what it's like! Parenting is not an easy job. But teaching and training children God's way is a lot easier. They consider it an honor and a privilege to assist so many parents in teaching God's Word to their children for over 20 years.
